FN America is entering the pistol-optic market with a design that changes both the optical system and the mounting interface.
The announced FN PUREVIEW is a fully enclosed, 1x pistol sight that uses ImageGuide holographic projection onto a single flat pane of glass. FN contrasts that with the curved lens and conventional emitter geometry found in most pistol red dots.
The second change is just as important for buyers: PUREVIEW uses a proprietary native mount on named FN pistols. It is not an RMR, DPP, RMSc, or ACRO optic.
What FN has published
FN’s April 16 announcement and current PUREVIEW product page publish these specifications:

FN calls it the industry’s first holographic micro red dot. That is a manufacturer positioning claim, not an independently verified Optics Intel conclusion.
The compatibility claim is exact
FN says PUREVIEW natively mounts to FN 509, FN 510, FN 545, and FN Five-seveN models that are MRD, Tactical, or Edge.
Optics Intel has added only those exact paths to the Red Dot Fit Checker. We have not converted FN’s proprietary interface into a reusable footprint or inferred fit on another FN pistol.
The distinction matters because the same 509/510/545 slides also use FN’s Low-Profile Optics Mounting System for other sights. PUREVIEW’s “native” claim does not establish that its proprietary base is compatible with an RMR, ACRO, or any numbered FN plate.
Why the flat pane could matter
Conventional pistol dots commonly use a curved reflective lens to return an LED image to the shooter’s eye. FN says its holographic ImageGuide system projects the reticle parallel to the line of sight through a single flat pane, reducing the optical distortion associated with curved glass.
If that benefit holds up in independent use, the strongest buyer value may be a cleaner sight picture without moving to a larger holographic housing. FN also says the reticle remains visible and zeroed if the glass is cracked.
Those are testable claims. Optics Intel has not yet measured distortion, parallax, battery life, impact survival, water resistance, or reticle behavior after glass damage.
The tradeoff buyers can see already
The published continuous runtime is 800 hours, far shorter than the multi-year headline figures common in conventional LED pistol dots. FN pairs that with motion sensing and battery-saving behavior and advertises up to one year of intermittent use.
Those figures describe different duty cycles and should not be compared as if they were the same test. The top-loading CR2032 does at least allow a battery change without removing the optic.
The other visible tradeoff is ecosystem lock-in. A native proprietary mount can reduce stack height and eliminate a conventional adapter, but it also narrows the host list. Buyers should confirm the exact FN model rather than assuming “optics ready” is sufficient.
Availability boundary
FN announced PUREVIEW on April 16, 2026 and said it expected availability later in the year. FN’s current product page still labels the optic Coming Soon and lists a $749 MSRP.
That means there is no Optics Intel purchase recommendation or hands-on review yet. The responsible status is announced: the design, specifications, and named fit paths come from FN; retail availability and field performance remain open.
The Optics Intel take
PUREVIEW is worth watching because it is more than another enclosed LED dot. It brings a different projection method into a compact pistol housing and pairs it with a native FN interface.
The real evaluation starts when production samples ship. The priority tests are optical distortion, parallax across the window, continuous and carry-cycle battery life, impact retention, damaged-glass behavior, and whether the native mount preserves zero through repeated stress.
Until those receipts exist, FN’s published engineering is interesting evidence—not a durability verdict.
