The Springfield Echelon VIS directly mounts selected RMR-family optics with Pin Set 1, selected DeltaPoint Pro-family optics with Pin Set 2, and selected Shield/K-family optics with Pin Set 3. The cleanest documented choices include Trijicon RMR/RMR HD/SRO or Holosun 507C/508T on Set 1; Leupold DeltaPoint Pro or EOTech EFLX on Set 2; and Shield RMSc/RMS2, Holosun 507K or full-size EPS, and Vortex Defender on Set 3. Aimpoint ACRO and Steiner MPS require Springfield's ACRO plate; named Docter optics require its Docter plate. Do not infer an unlisted model from footprint alone: Springfield names the 507K and full-size EPS but not every Holosun K optic, and its Docter table names FastFire 2 and 4 but not FastFire 3 or Vortex Venom.
The Echelon does not use a single fixed footprint and it is not a normal plate system. Its Variable Interface System (VIS) uses movable pins to configure the slide for several direct-mount patterns. The selected optic determines the pin set, screw source, and whether an adapter plate is needed.
That flexibility makes generic “RMR fits” or “RMSc fits” answers unusually risky. Start with the exact optic model in Springfield’s table, then follow its row all the way across.

This is a fit ranking, not a durability ranking. We have not subjected every optic in the table to the same round count, drop protocol, weather exposure, and zero-retention test. The best choice for a buyer still depends on size, emitter style, controls, battery access, reticle, and use.
How VIS Works
Springfield’s current Echelon manual documents three direct-mount standards:
- Pin Set 1: Trijicon RMR standard
- Pin Set 2: Leupold DeltaPoint Pro standard
- Pin Set 3: Springfield Micro / Shield RMS-SMS standard
The self-locking pins locate the optic laterally while its screws clamp the sight to the slide. The complete VIS pin set contains Sets 1, 2, and 3. Springfield says the two pins stored beneath the factory cover plate are exclusively for the RMR standard, so an owner changing to another family must install the appropriate pin set rather than reusing what was under the cover.
ACRO and Docter-family optics use separate steel adapter plates instead of a direct pin configuration.
Pin Set 1: RMR-Family Direct Mounts
Springfield’s table confirms these model groups for Pin Set 1:
- Trijicon RMR, RMR HD, and SRO
- Holosun 507C-X2 and 508T
- Swampfox Kingslayer, Liberty, and Justice
- Viridian RFX35
- Riton 3 Tactix PRD / PRD 2
- Ameriglo Haven
The Trijicon RMR uses Screw Kit 1A in Springfield’s table. Holosun 507C and 508T use their OEM screws. The Echelon manual describes the RMR-standard installation with two black delta-shaped front pins and 6-32 screws tightened to the sight maker’s specification.
Do not extend the list to every RMR-family optic. For example, Springfield’s current table does not name the Trijicon RCR, Holosun 407C, 507COMP, or newer model revisions. They may be leads for future verification, but a common footprint is not enough for a green purchasing recommendation.
Pin Set 2: DeltaPoint Pro-Family Direct Mounts
The confirmed Set 2 entries include:
- Leupold DeltaPoint Pro
- EOTech EFLX
- Bushnell RXS-250 and RXS-100
- SIG Sauer ROMEO2
For the DeltaPoint Pro, Springfield assigns Screw Kit 2A. The Echelon manual describes Set 2 as four silver pins—two round rear pins and left/right delta-shaped front pins—with M4x0.7 screws.
SIG’s ROMEO2 is classified under SIG’s own PRO-family mounting language in many catalogs, but Springfield names the exact optic on Pin Set 2. The platform maker’s exact assignment controls the Echelon result.
The current table does not name every DPP-family optic. A Vortex Defender ST, Defender XL, SIG ROMEO-X Pro, or newer Venom Enclosed should not silently inherit the DeltaPoint Pro result without an exact Springfield row or another manufacturer-approved path.
Pin Set 3: Shield and Selected Holosun K Direct Mounts
Springfield confirms Pin Set 3 for:
- Shield RMSc, SMSc, SMS2, and RMSX
- Holosun 507K and full-size EPS
- Vortex Defender
- Viridian RFX15 and RFX11
- Crimson Trace CTS-1550
- Advanced Optics Spike and Nuwa
- Vector Frenzy-S
Springfield’s manual calls this the Springfield Micro / Shield SMS standard and uses left/right delta-shaped front pins with M4x0.7 screws. Some entries use their OEM hardware; an asterisk in the table means those screws may require shortening.
The Holosun 507K normally belongs to the modified Holosun K interface, not a universal RMSc standard. Its direct Echelon fit is verified because Springfield names the 507K on Pin Set 3—not because all K and RMSc optics are interchangeable.
The same boundary applies to the EPS. Springfield names EPS. It does not say EPS Carry in the current table, so our checker keeps EPS Carry unresolved on the Echelon instead of copying the full-size EPS result.
ACRO Plate: Aimpoint ACRO and Steiner MPS
Springfield’s VIS ACRO/Docter plate page assigns the ACRO plate to:
- Aimpoint ACRO
- Steiner MPS
- Viridian RFX45
The Aimpoint ACRO P-2 and Steiner MPS use the same clamp-style interface, but they do not direct mount through a VIS pin set. The steel ACRO plate is part of the mounting stack.
Springfield instructs the installer to secure a VIS adapter plate with the 6-32 cover-plate screws at no more than 18 inch-pounds, then mount the optic to the plate according to the optic maker’s instructions.
Docter Plate: Exact Models Only
The current Docter-plate table names:
- Advanced Optics RD3-009
- Burris FastFire 2 and FastFire 4
- Crimson Trace RAD Pro, RAD, and RAD 1250
- HEX Dragonfly
- Vortex Viper
- Viridian RFX25
- Vector Frenzy-X
That list creates two important unknowns: the original Vortex Venom and Burris FastFire 3 share broad Docter-family geometry, but Springfield does not name either one in its current Echelon table. Our checker therefore does not show a manufacturer-verified path for those models.
This is deliberate. Plate body clearance, socket depth, screw geometry, and optic revisions can produce exact-model exceptions even within a familiar footprint family.
Screw Length Is Part of Compatibility
Springfield’s Echelon manual says optic screws cannot protrude more than 0.110 inch (2.8 mm) below the sight. It warns that manufacturer-supplied screws may require shortening.
That limit is not permission to guess, cut, or substitute hardware. Before installation:
- use the pin set and screw-kit row for the exact optic;
- measure protrusion from the bottom of the sight before putting the screws into the slide;
- follow the optic maker’s torque specification for direct mounts;
- keep any threadlocker sparse and on the screws only;
- never let excess compound enter the threaded slide holes or mechanism; and
- test fire and confirm zero after installation, as Springfield instructs.
If shortening is required, Springfield’s own table marks that possibility with an asterisk. A qualified armorer or gunsmith is the safer choice when screw identity, head geometry, engagement, or internal clearance is uncertain.
