SIG P365 Optic Footprint: RMSc, SIG-LOC, and Cut Identification
Identify a SIG P365 optic cut by its hardware: COMPACT/Shield RMSc raised bosses versus SIG-LOC flush screw holes.

An optic-ready SIG P365-family slide can use either the older COMPACT/Shield RMSc interface or the newer SIG-LOC Compact interface. SIG's current manual says the COMPACT/RMSc cut has raised bosses, while SIG-LOC has flush screw holes. A non-optics-ready P365 has neither removable filler plate nor factory cut. Identify the physical cut before ordering an optic; the P365 model name alone is not enough.
“P365 footprint” is now a generation question. SIG’s current manual documents two factory interfaces, while the P365 name also appears on pistols with no factory optic cut.

COMPACT / Shield RMSc Cut
SIG labels the established P365 optic interface COMPACT (Shield RMSc). Current P365X, P365-XL, and P365-XMACRO product tables publish that footprint. Compatible SIG optics include the ROMEO-X Compact, ROMEO-X Enclosed Compact, and ROMEOZero family.
The footprint label is not a blanket hardware promise. An optic still needs the correct screw thread, length, head geometry, body clearance, and installation procedure for that slide.
Where Holosun K Fits
Holosun K is derived from RMSc but is not mechanically identical to a generic four-boss RMSc interface. Holosun’s own 507K page resolves the important model-specific case: it lists P365X/XL as direct fit and says a four-boss slide needs an adapter.
Therefore:
- P365X/XL with the documented factory COMPACT cut: 507K direct-fit path is manufacturer-supported.
- An unidentified “P365” slide: no inference from the family name.
- A different RMSc pistol: do not transfer the P365X/XL statement.
- A SIG-LOC slide: use its own compatibility evidence, not the older P365X/XL listing.
SIG-LOC Compact Cut
SIG-LOC is the newer P365 interface. The dedicated ROMEO-X SIG-LOC Compact mounts from beneath the slide and creates five contact points. SIG’s 3.7-inch SIG-LOC slide states that it can mount both SIG-LOC Compact and Shield RMS-C footprints.
This is asymmetric compatibility. RMSc optics gain a path onto a SIG-LOC slide; a SIG-LOC optic does not gain a path onto the earlier RMSc-only cut.
Filler-Plate Numbers Are Not Optic Specs
SIG’s current manual provides the following filler-plate procedure:

The manual immediately warns that filler-plate screws secure the filler plate only. These numbers are useful for identifying and reinstalling the cover—not for guessing an optic installation. A top-mounted RMSc optic and a bottom-mounted SIG-LOC optic do not share one procedure.
Earlier vs. Later Rear-Sight Layout
An older SIG manual instructed users to remove the sight plate and rear sight together. SIG’s current manual separates sight-plate and filler- plate procedures, and current slides can keep the rear sight when the optic cover is removed.
SIG’s current listing for the older P365X sight plate with attached rear sight specifically says it does not fit models whose rear sight mounts directly to the slide. That is a real generation distinction, but it does not tell you RMSc versus SIG-LOC. Look under the plate.

- Confirm the pistol is factory optic-ready.
- Record the exact SKU if buying remotely.
- Unload and clear the pistol, then remove the filler plate per SIG’s manual.
- Identify raised bosses or flush screw holes.
- Match an optic using exact manufacturer evidence.
- Obtain the optic-specific screw and torque instructions.
